Chattogram EC staffer held in NID forgery case
Police today arrested a staff of the Election Commission (EC) in Chattogram in connection with a case filed over National Identity (NID) scam involving Rohingyas.
Md Nazim, a peon at Chattogram regional office, was arrested around 11:00am, our staff correspondent reports from the district.
The arrest was made based on information revealed by the persons arrested earlier in connection with the case, said Rajesh Barua, inspector of Counter Terrorism (CT) unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
So far, 10 persons including eight EC staffers have been arrested in the case, filed with Kotwali Police Station on September 17.
Inspector Rajesh, also investigation officer of the case, earlier said that the 10 arrestees gave confessional statements in the case.
