SC releases full verdict asking BSMMU to reinstate 140 docs
The Supreme Court (SC) today released the full verdict directing authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to reinstate its 140 doctors whose appointment process were declared illegal by the High Court.
In the verdict, the apex court also said the period in which the doctors were out of their services will be treated as leave without pay.
It also directed the BSMMU authorities to allow the doctors to continue their services in their respective positions.
The SC released the verdict after its five judges led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha signed it.
Earlier on May 21, the five-member bench of the apex court delivered the short verdict after hearing five appeals and two leave to appeal petitions filed by the doctors challenging the HC verdict.
In 2010, the High Court ruled that the appointment process of 140 doctors were illegal because of some anomalies.
Later on September 4 last year, the apex court also allowed the doctors to move with an appeal petition against the verdict of the High Court.
