Siddiqur returns home, greeted by protesters

The Titumir College student who lost vision due to police action on a demonstration today returned home after undergoing an eye surgery in India.

Siddiqur Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3:09pm. There, a group of protesters were demonstrating with black cloth tied on their eyes.

Still in with demand of college students at heart, Siddiqur told reporters after landing that he wants implementation of the students’ seven-point demand.

Fakhrul Islam Fuad, a classmate of Sidduqur, announced to form a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club on August 13 to press their demand and seek action against police.

Siddiqur was hit on the eyes by a tear gas canister fired by police on a demonstration of college students who were demonstrating for exam schedule of Dhaka University-affiliate colleges.

He lost one of his eyes completely. Doctors of India operated on his other eye with slim hopes of recovery. He had flown to India on July 27 under state management.
