Tonu murder: Family members seek justice

Family members of Sohagi Jahan Tonu today again sought justice for the college girl who was found murdered in a bush in the Comilla Cantonment area on March 20 last year.

The demand came when the family members were quizzed at Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Dhaka, Tonu’s brother Anwar Hossain Rubel told the Daily Star.

“We all asked for justice as it is almost 20 months my sister was killed brutally but the investigators failed to arrest anyone,” he added.

Apart from Rubel, his mother Anwara Begum, father Yaar Hossain, his cousin Minhaz Hossain and Laizu Jahan were interrogated separately after they arrived at the CID office around 10:00am in response to a summon.

Abdul Kahar Akanda, additional deputy inspector general of CID told The Daily Star: “We talked to the family members on different issues. We tried to verify some information that we gather in course of investigation.”

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said the family of Tonu was called to CID headquarters for the sake of investigation of the murder case.
