Heavy patrols at Bashundhara R/A, cops charging civilians
Law enforcers were seen patrolling Bashundhara Residential Area since this morning inflicting panic among dwellers and passers-by.
Armed police, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Ansar members were seen making rounds in and around the area, challenging civilians left and right.
They were also seen shouting and charging baton at any one who was holding a phone in hand suspecting that they were taking photos or videos.
Our special correspondent, who was challenged likewise, reports he saw armed police stopping, frisking and detaining anyone they thought were suspicious there.
Armed police were patrolling the area including all the lanes and alleys in every 15-20 minutes. They were also checking inside the roadside shops.
Amid such heavy patrols, the area was seen to be mostly empty with medium movement of vehicles.
Educational institutions including IUB and NSU were devoid of students with almost no classes being held.
