10 killed in Tangail road crashes
At least 10 people including two women and two children were killed and 8 others injured in two separate road accidents in Madhupr and Tangail Sadar upazilas today.
Among the deceased, four were identified as Mamataj Begum and Hazera Begum, aged between 50 and 55, Kasim Uddin, 55, and Bulu, 32, driver of the microbus, said Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain of Tangail Police Station.
Identities of the rest victims could not be known immediately, he added.
A Tangail-bound truck rammed a Dhaka-bound microbus at Karatia point on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail Sadar upazila around 3:00pm, leaving four passengers of the microbus dead on the spot and 10 others injured critically, said Sub-Inspector Jahangir Alam, in-charge of Elenga Highway Police Outpost.
The injured were rushed to Tangail General Hospital where doctor declared four of them dead, SI Zakir told our Tangail correspondent.
Among the injured, Maya, 50, and Soma, 30, are being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, he added.
Besides, two youths were killed while they were racing their bikes with others in Telki area of Madhupur upazila around 12:30pm, said Shofiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Madhupur Police Station.
The deceased Sohag, 26, was a service holder while Himel, 24, a BBA 3rd year student, police said.
