Tenure of Accord extended till Dec 6

The Supreme Court extended the tenure of Accord, a European agency for factory inspection and remediation, till December 6 as its tenure will expire today.

The apex court also fixed December 6 for further hearing on an appeal filed by the agency, Accord on Building and Fire Safety in Bangladesh.

The appeal was filed challenging the High Court directive that asked the Accord to stop its activities after today.

A six-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Muhammad Imman Ali passed the order during hearing on the appeal.

Additional Attorney General Murad Reza represented for the government while Advocate KS Salahuddin Ahmed appeared for the Accord.

Earlier, the government extended the tenure of the Accord, a platform of nearly 200 mainly European retailers, till tomorrow (November 30).
