A suspected mugger and an official of a private company suffered bullet injuries when the official was mugged by two people in Dhaka today.

The injured were identified as Sujauddin Talukdar, 37, a Sales Executive Officer of Navana Engineering Ltd, and Jahedul Islam Shohag, 40, one of the suspected muggers who claimed to be a truck driver from Faridpur.

Sujauddin was going to Nawabpur from Motijheel with a bag containing cash and some cheques when two men mugged him after shooting in his left knee, Shiblee Noman, additional deputy police commissioner of Mothijheel zone, told The Daily Star.

On information, police reached the spot immediately and fired gunshots, leaving Shohag injured in his left knee, he added.

Both of them are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he added.

“Police have information that Shohag is involved in mugging,” Sub-Inspector Kamrul Hasan of Paltan Police Station said adding that, they could not apprehend the other mugger.

Meanwhile, Shohag told The Daily Star that he is a truck driver from Faridpur and has come to Dhaka to get his driving license.

He claimed that he has no connection with the mugging. The bag has not been found as of yet.
