Water vessel services from Sadarghat suspended

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended all water vessel services from Sadarghat launch terminal today until further notice due to inclement weather.

“Around 3:00pm, we have asked the authorities concerned to halt launches, ferries and all other river vessel services as per the suggestion of the Bangladesh meteorological department,” BIWTA Joint Director Alamgir Kabir told The Daily Star.

Operation of water vessel services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route also remains suspended since 3:00pm due to bad weather, Khaled Nawaz, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation(BIWTC) said.
