Woman dies falling off building while fleeing rehab

A woman died after falling from the fourth floor of a building while fleeing from an addiction rehabilitation center in Uttara of Dhaka today.

The deceased, Rubina Parveen Runa, 50, tried to escape from Nobojagoron Addiction Rehabilitation Centre’s fourth floor around 1:15am, Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Uttara Pashchim Police Station, told The Daily Star.

She tried to get off the building by tying her bedsheet with the iron grill of veranda on the fourth floor but she fell off and died on the spot, the OC said.

She was addicted to various kinds of drugs for the last few years, the OC said quoting her son Abrar Ali.

Abrar admitted her to the rehabilitation center on February 10, the police official added.
