Woman held with 24 gold bars at Dhaka airport
Customs officials today detained a woman with 24 gold bars at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Detainee Jannatul Ferdous, 23, hailing from Narsingdi, landed at Dhaka by a flight of US-Bangla Airlines from Chittagong this morning, according to a Facebook post of Customs Intelligence, Bangladesh.
On information, customs officials frisked her at the Domestic Terminal of the airport and seized the gold bars weighing 2.785 kg from her possession, Director General of Customs Intelligence Moinul Khan told The Daily Star.
The value of the recovered gold is around Tk 1.39 crore, he said, adding that the recovered gold will be deposited to Bangladesh Bank.
Legal steps will be taken against the detainee after investigation, he added.
