Writ plea filed to ban doctor, nurse strike

A writ petition was filed with the High Court yesterday seeking necessary orders on the authorities concerned to ban enforcement of strikes by doctors and nurses at hospitals.

In the petition, the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) requested the court to direct the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to form a three-member committee to monitor twice a week whether the doctors and nurses enforce any strike at any hospital.

Strikes by doctors and nurses cause sufferings to patients, the petitioner said. Manzill Murshid, counsel of HRPB, said the High Court might hear the petition today.
