India’s active Covid-19 cases below 1 million mark for first time in 2 months

India reported 70,421 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the lowest in one and half months.
The number of active cases of the disease is now 9,73,158. It fell below the one million mark for the first time in more than two months, reports our New Delhi correspondent quoting health ministry data released this morning.
The country also saw 3,936 deaths in the last 24 hours with the western state of Maharashtra contributing to over 2,800 of them.
A total of 2,81,62,947 recoveries have been recorded across the country so far with the addition of 1,19,501 patients having recovered during the last 24 hours.
The recoveries thus continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 32nd consecutive day.
The recovery rate increased to 95.43 percent and the weekly positivity rate dropped to less than 5 percent, currently at 4.54 percent.
The daily positivity rate is at 4.72 percent, less than 10 percent for 21 consecutive days.
