Pfizer Covid-19 shots being administered at 3 Dhaka centres
The health directorate has started administering Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines at three centres in Dhaka today.
At around 9:30am, the campaign was inaugurated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Other centres are Kurmitola General Hospital and Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital.
A total of 120 people will be administered shots today at each centre, according to the officials.
They will be observed for 10 days and if there is no adverse effect, the vaccine will be administered at the mass level.
On May 31, Bangladesh received 106,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine. The jabs are being administered at three vaccination centres in Dhaka as those need to be kept at a very low temperature in storages that are not available outside the capital.
Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine is also going on across the country. Only students of medical colleges and other allied health education institutions are receiving the jabs initially.
The campaign started from Saturday with around 11 lakh jabs of Sinopharm vaccine.
