62 people in institutional quarantine in Kurigram

Local administration today placed 62 people, mostly labourers, who reached Kurigram from Dhaka's Keraniganj, in institutional quarantine as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Law enforcers intercepted a truck on Dharla bridge near Kurigram town around 11:45am and stopped the workers including three women and two children when they were heading towards Kachakata village in the area, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting police.

Later, all of them were taken to Kachakata Police Station and then sent to institutional quarantine for 14 days in line with the decision of the district administration, said Shawkat Ali, superintendent of police in Bhurungamari-Kachakata circle.

If any of them is infected with coronavirus, it can spread in their villages and thus they were being kept in institutional quarantine at a school in the area for 14 days, the police official said.
