Livestock dept provides 1,155 PPE for doctors in Sylhet
Department of Livestock Services (DLS) today provided 1,155 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for doctors and healthcare providers in Sylhet division.
Dr Md Aminul Islam, deputy director of DLS in Sylhet division, said they handed over 400 PPEs to the civil surgeon in Habiganj while 450 to the civil surgeon in Sunamganj, 65 to deputy commissioner of Moulvibazar, 65 to upazila nirbahi officers in Moulvibazar and 10 to a upazila health officer in the district.
In Sylhet district, 50 PPEs were handed over to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, 25 to the civil surgeon and 40 to different healthcare establishments, he said adding that they will also hand over 50 PPEs to the district civil surgeon soon.
Earlier, DLS, in a circular signed by its Director Dr Sheikh Azizur Rahman, asked all offices under the department to distribute their preserved PPEs among the concerned authorities in every district to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
DLS had preserved the PPEs for combating Bird Flu outbreak, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting DLS officials.
Dr Debapada Ray, director of health in Sylhet division, said, "These PPEs are very important for the doctors and caregivers right now. We have to ensure the proper use of PPEs."
