207 more police members test positive for Covid-19

With 207 police personnel testing positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the total number of infected in the force jumped to 6,206 in the country till today.

Around 322 police members have made full recovery in the last 24 hours as well, according to a database of police headquarters (PHQ).

The total number of recovered now stands at 2,767; of them, a majority have re-joined their duty, said officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and PHQ.

Among the infected officials, 1,828 are from DMP alone while 16 police officials and one civil staff of the force have died of Covid-19 till today.

Around 6,451 police officials remain in quarantine and 2,007 others in isolation, as they either showed Covid-19 symptoms or came in contact with positive persons.

Police officials claimed that they have made all arrangements for the treatment of their infected colleagues. Authorities booked a private hospital to treat the infected policemen as the Central Police Hospital has been struggling to deal with the volume of patients.

Besides, 11 residential hotels are also booked for the police officials' treatment in the capital, according to sources.

Officials said the number of infected among police is on the rise as it is quite difficult for law enforcers to carry out their duties without coming into contact with people.
