Coronavirus testing starts at Khulna Medical College Hospital
Starting today Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) has started testing for coronavirus using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine.
A total of 12 samples were tested today and yesterday four samples were tested on a trial basis, our Khulna correspondent reports quoting sources at the hospital.
Testing facilities will however start in full swing from tomorrow.
Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the PCR machine at a lab of the microbiology department at the hospital.
Vice Principle of KMC Dr Mehedi Newaj said, in its full capacity, it will be possible to conduct 96 tests at a time. All tests will be free of cost, he added.
Flu corners have been set up at ten upazila health complexes where doctors will monitor the condition of patients and send them to KMCH if needed.
The reports will be sent to IEDCR, who will make the final announcement in this regard.
