Twenty-seven staff members including nine doctors and nine nurses of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) were quarantined yesterday evening.

The decision came after a garment worker from Mawna in Gazipur was admitted to the hospital on April 12, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting Assistant director of MMCH Dr Saiful Islam Khan.

The 27-year-old, however, concealed information about his health condition.

The man was earlier admitted to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. Doctors collected his sample and sent them to IEDCR for testing but the patient ran away from the hospital and got admitted to MMCH with complaints of abdominal pain, Dr Saiful added.

But on Monday, doctors from Sreepur informed MMCH that the patient tested positive for coronavirus and the man was immediately moved to the isolation ward of the hospital.

All staff members, doctors and nurses who came in contact with the patient have been sent to home quarantine.
