Suspension of public transport extended till May 30
The government today extended the ongoing suspension of all public transport till May 30 to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
Public transport services will remain suspended ahead of and after Eid, expected to be celebrated on May 24 or 25.
The Road Transport and Highways Division took the decision hours after the government extended the ongoing closure of most public and private offices in the country till May 30, Abu Naser, deputy chief information officer of the ministry, said in a press release.
However, all goods-laden vehicles and those involved with emergency services will remain out of purview of the suspension, according to the release.
No goods-laden vehicle will be allowed to carry passengers, it added.
