2 ‘bandits’ held after Sundarbans ‘gunfight’

Two suspected bandits were arrested following a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Chandpai range of the Sundarbans this morning.

The second-in-command of bandit gang “Sumon Bahini” Abul Hossain alias Abu Talib, and another Mithu Gazi were held, our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting Lt Col Anwaruzzaman, commanding officer of Rab-8.

The “gunfight” took place at Andaria creek under Chandpai range from 8:30am to 10:00am, the official said.

A foreign pistol, a local pipe gun, a shooter gun, 13 rounds of ammunition and 11 cartridges were recovered from the spot, the official added.
