22 including incumbent, former councillors held in N'ganj
Police today arrested 22 people including incumbent and former councillors of Narayanganj City Corporation following a clash over the committee of a local mosque that left 12 people injured.
Kabir Hossain and Kamrul Hasan Munna are present and former councillor of ward No. 18.
They were arrested from Nolua of the city after the two separate cases were filed in connection with the clash, our district correspondent reports quoting Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Model Police Station.
Police produced Kabir and Munna before a local court with a seven-day remand prayer, the OC said.
According to the locals, there was a longstanding feud between Kabir and Munna, president of Nalua Jame mosque committee, for establishing supremacy in the area.
The clash took place between the followers of Kabir and Munna, also secretary of Narayanganj city unit Sramik League, when they sat inside the mosque in a meeting on Sunday. At least 12 were people were injured during the clash, the locals said.
Two separate cases were filed with Sadar Police Station accusing 25 to 30 people. Both Munna and Kabir are accused in the cases.
