3 missing in Mymensingh boat capsize

At least three people including two students went missing today after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra river at Gafargoan upazila of Mymensingh.

The missing boat passengers were identified as school students Monir Miah, 15, and Munni Akhtar, 14, and Sheuly Akhtar, 30, police said.

The Galakata Bazar-bound boat from Char Agli carrying some 30 passengers sank around 11:00am due to overweight, Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station, told our Mymensingh correspondent.

Divers from the fire service and civil defence rushed to the spot and started rescue operation around 2:00pm.
