3 rape incidents reported from 2 dists

Three incidents of rape involving two schoolgirls and a mother of two have been reported from Narayanganj and Bandarban.

In Narayanganj, a 35-year-old man Alauddin has been charged with raping a fifth-grader in Araihazar yesterday, our local correspondent reports.

Victim’s father filed the case today in connection with the incident, said Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station.

The accused is currently on the run. The 12-year-old schoolgirl has been taken to Narayanganj General Hospital for treatment and tests.

Locals have staged protest in the locality demanding immediate arrest of Alauddin.

In Bandarban, police arrested one U Shwe Sing Marma, 25, last evening from Bandarban bus station on charges of abduction and rape of a ninth-grader.

A case was filled in this connection on Friday night, Shariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Rowangchhari Police Station, told our local correspondent.

Also, in the district, a mother of two was also reportedly raped in remote Tumbru area of Naikhongchhari upazila on the wee hours of Friday.

The victim, now undergoing treatment, said that two of her neighbours – Abdul Jabbar and Shahjahan – raped her over land dispute.

She said she was frightened to file a case against the duo.
