4-yr-old boy dies in flag stand collapse

A four-year-old boy died after a flag stand collapsed on him at Khagrachhari General Hospital this morning.

Yasin Arafat alias Rahul, son of Kabir Hossain of Ganjpara in Sadar upazila, went to the hospital with his mother, an appendicitis patient, family members told our Khagrachhari correspondent.

As the boy touched the 20-feet-long iron rod flag stand, it collapsed on him leaving him critically injured, said victim’s mother Rani Begum.

He died minutes after he was admitted to the emergency unit of the hospital, said Sanjib Tripura, a residential medical officer of the hospital.

Family members alleged that the accident took place due to the negligence of the hospital authorities.
