5 held for ‘killing’ Ctg BCL man
Law enforcers today arrested five people from different areas in Chittagong in a case filed over killing a student of Premier University in the port city yesterday.
The arrestees are: Ashraful Islam, 23, Wahidduzzaman Nishan, 21, Ziual Haider Chowdhury, 22, SM Golam Mostafa, 22 and Tamim-ul-Alam, 24.
They were arrested after police identified them and seven others from CCTV footage collected from the university area, said Mohammad Mainuddin, assistant commissioner (Kotwali) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
All the arrestees are students of the university, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Aziz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chawk Bazar Police Station.
Nasim Ahmed Sohel, a member of Chittagong city BCL unit committee, was allegedly killed by his rivals over a conflict between two groups of students who tried to organise a farewell programme, scheduled for tomorrow.
Victim’s father Abu Taher filed a case with Chawk Bazar Police Station last night against 13 named and some 20 to 25 unidentified people.
