Road crashes kill 9 in Narsingdi, Sirajganj
Nine people were killed and five injured in separate road accidents in Narsingdi and Siranjganj districts this morning and last night.
A head-on collision between a microbus and a private car on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Noyadia in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi around 9:45am left four people dead and eight others injured.
The deceased were identified as Billal Hossain, 25, his brother-in-law Abul Hossain, 24, microbus driver Rasel, 30, reports our Narsingdi correspondent quoting Md Shafiqul Islam, in-charge of Itakhola Highway Police outpost.
However, the identity of a woman aged around 50 dead in the accident could not be known.
The injured were whisked off to a district hospital from where one was shifted to Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.
Three of the injured have been shifted to DMCH in critical condition, the police official said.
In Sirajganj, five people were killed as a speedy bus hit a three-wheeler in Shilonda Shimultola area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila around 9:30pm yesterday.
Three of the victims were identified as Abu Kawsar, 29, Urmi Khatun, 20, and her daughter Mohini, 2, of Kaliakanda village in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh.
The victims were going to Kamarkhanda upazila by the CNG-run auto-rickshaw when the accident took place, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station.
Three of the passengers died on the spot while two others succumbed at Sirajganj General Hospital, the OC said.
