ACC asks DIG Mizanur to file wealth statement
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today issued a notice seeking wealth statement against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and his wife for allegedly acquiring wealth illegally.
The decision was made following a probe into DIG Mizanur’s wealth, according to a release.
In the primary investigation, ACC found a discrepancy of Tk 72,90,952 in the total wealth owned by DIG Mizanur and his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, the release read.
On May 3, DIG Mizanur claimed that he has no illegal property when he was interrogated by the ACC at its Segunbagicha office in Dhaka.
Mizanur was withdrawn as the Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and attached to the Police Headquarters on January 10.
He allegedly picked up 25-year-old Moriam Akter Eko from in front of her Panthapath house on July 15 last year and then forcibly married her.
Besides, the same police official's name surfaced in the media for allegedly picking up a female news presenter of a private television channel at gunpoint in December last year.
