ACC to probe illegal food stockpiling
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said they have decided to probe the allegations of illegal food stockpiling by hoarders in connivance with a section of dishonest food officials.
“We must bring the people involved in the illegal food stockpiling to justice,” the ACC boss came up with the warning while addressing a programme in Rangamati.
The commission has noticed that a section of dishonest government official has developed an unfair relation with hoards of food items in exchange of bribe, Mahmood said.
“We will ensure exemplary punishment against the people who are embezzling money from people’s pockets by increasing price of food items including rice,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangamati Md Manzarul Mannan presided over the discussion titled "Corruption-free public services: nature of graft allegation".
Stressing the need to obey the law, Mahmood said, each of the citizens will have uphold the law to establish the rule of law in the country.
“The original message of the commission is none of us above the law and we will have to remember this,” he said calling up on the ACC staff and officials to stay away indulging in misdeeds and corruptions.
“Discharge your duties upholding rules without bowing down heads before anyone. We will go for tough action if it is not done,” he asked ACC officials.
