Accused flees after biting cop’s hand
An accused who was arrested in two criminal cases managed to flee after he bit a lawman’s hand in Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona today, police said.
Accused M Enajul Mia, 35, is a resident of Chatrangpur village in the upazila, a correspondent reports from Netrakona.
A police team launched a drive at Enajul’s house around 1:30pm and arrested him, said Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mizanur Rahman.
When Sub-inspector Maruf tried to put handcuff on Enajul, his family members and relatives, equipped with homemade arms, allegedly attacked the law enforcers to snatch him from police custody, leaving five policemen injured, OC Mizanur said.
At one stage, Enajul bit SI Maruf’s hand and managed to flee the scene, he added.
The injured five policemen were given first aid at Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex.
Police also detained nine other people, including Enajul’s wife and his younger brother, from the spot for their alleged involvement in the attack on the law enforcers.
A case was filed against Enajul and police are trying to arrest him, the OC added.
