3 killed in Rangpur road crash

Three people were killed and two others were injured in a road accident involving a bus and an ambulance in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur this morning.

The incident took place around 7:00am when a Syedpur-bound bus of Dipjol Paribahan from Dhaka collided with a Rangpur-bound ambulance from Syedpur coming from the opposite direction at Bachurbandha area on Rangpur-Syedpur Highway in the upazila, reports our Rangpur correspondent quoting police.

The driver of the ambulance, Rubel, and one passenger died on the spot and three others were injured, said Golam Kibria, officer-in-charge of Taraganj Highway Police Outpost.

On information, police rescued the three injured persons and rushed them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where one of them died, the police official said.

Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee from the scene, he added.

The identities of the other victims could not be known immediately.
