Attack on Zafar Iqbal: Foyzur's parents, uncle remanded
A Sylhet court today placed the parents and an uncle of Foyzur Hasan, who attacked Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, on remand for different terms in connection with the attack.
Haridas Thakur, the judge of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3, placed Foyzur’s father Atiqur Rahman and his uncle Fozlur Rahman on a five-day remand in a case filed over the knife attack.
The court also placed Foyzur's mother Minara Begum on a two-day remand in this connection, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
The court passed the order when police produced them before it this afternoon seeking seven-day remand for each, said Abdul Wahab Miah, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
On March 3, Prof Iqbal was attacked by Foyzur Hasan with a knife at a programme at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
He was caught red-handed and was beaten by the mob. SUST registrar filed the case with Jalalabad Police Station on March 5.
Foyzur is now on remand as the same court on March 8 placed him on a 10-day remand in connection with the attack.
