MP Rana was brought from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur in a prison van and produced before the first additional district and sessions judge’s court for the charge framing hearing.
The court was scheduled to hear three separate petitions from MP Rana along with the charge framing hearing today. Two of his petitions, one for getting discharged from the case and another for opening up a reinvestigation into the case was rejected, our Tangail correspondent reports quoting court sources.
However, the third petition was accepted that granted him some medical facilities in prison.
Tangail first additional district and sessions judge Abul Monsur Mia came up with the orders after hearing from both the sides.
The court fixed October 18, 2017 for hearing on witnesses account.
Rana surrendered before this court on September 18 last year after being absconding for 22 months from the filing of the case against him.
The bullet-hit body of freedom fighter Faruk, also a district AL leader of Tangail, was found on January 18, 2013.
Later, a murder case was filed in this connection.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on August 23, 2017 asked the authorities concerned to produce lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana before the trial court on the day of hearing of the case filed for killing freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
On May 8, the SC stayed for four months a High Court order that had granted bail to Rana in the case. The apex court also asked the trial court to finish the trial proceedings of Faruk Ahmed murder case in six months.
