BB official, 2 daughters die in Sitakunda road crash
A Bangladesh Bank official and his two daughters were killed while his wife and son were injured in a road accident in Chattogram’s Sitakunda upazila this morning.
Md Saifuzzaman Mintu, 40, was the joint director of Bangladesh Bank’s Motijheel Branch.
Saifuzzaman was from Nishchintopur village of Chandpur’s Hajiganj.
The two other victims are his daughters Tasnim, 13, and Tafia, 15, said Inspector Jahurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost.
The family was returning to Dhaka by a private car after vacationing in Bandarban when the car collided head-on with a lorry on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway near Banglabazar of Fouzdarhat, our staff correspondent reports quoting the inspector.
Tasnim and Tafia died on the spot, whereas the rest of the family members were rushed to CMCH. Saifuzzaman succumbed after reaching the hospital, Jahurul Islam added.
His wife and son were undergoing treatment at the hospital in critical conditions, the police official added.
