Legal action if artificial crisis of rice created: Tofail

The government has instructed law enforcement agencies across the country to take legal action against those are creating artificial crisis of rice in the market to earn extra profit illegally.

“We ordered deputy commissioners and superintendents of police across the country to take legal step against the traders who are hoarding rice to earn extra profit,” Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said.

Tofail Ahmed, also an advisory council member of the ruling Awami League, was addressing a pregramme held at a hotel in Dhaka this afternoon.

He said instruction has also been given to the law enforcement agencies to monitor stocks of rice traders across the country so that they cannot create artificial crisis of rice in the market.
