Development spending rises 6yrs high
The government spent 94.32 per cent of Tk 176,620 crore set aside as the development budget in the just-concluded fiscal year, data from the planning ministry showed.
The spending in 2018-19 is the highest in the last six years, as it expended Tk 166,593 crore.
Alone in June, the government spent Tk 46,551 crore, which was Tk 49,328 crore in the same month a year ago.
The ADP implementation scenario, however, has changed from what it was at the beginning of the fiscal year. It picked up in November amid the fervour surrounding the parliamentary polls in December last year.
The government spent Tk 111,033 crore from its own coffer in the last fiscal year, which is 95.72 per cent of the allocation. The spending from the project aid stood at Tk 47,279 crore, which was 92.70 per cent of the allocation.
The government’s expenditure from its own sources rose in the just-concluded fiscal year, compared to what it was in 2017-18. The spending from the foreign component fell year-on-year.
