The incessant downpour for the last few days coupled with onrush on hilly water has marooned lakhs of people of at least 90 villages in three upazilas—Kamalganj, Kulaura and Rajnagar upazilas of the districts.
The hilly water has damaged flood protection embankments in the district worsening the flood situation alarmingly.
Thousands of people in the area are facing acute food and pure drinking water scarcity while schools, colleges, madrasas, mosques, temples, crops land and fish farms went under water due to the huge flood of the Munsori and Dholai rivers in the area.
