Injured in ‘BSF firing’ man dies in Kurigram

A young man who was shot and wounded by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) died at Rangpur medical College Hospital at last night.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hashem, son of Abu Bakkar, a resident of Kalair Char village in Narayanpur union of Nageswari upazila.

Locals said that when a group of cattle traders went near international border pillar No 1039 Tuesday morning, some BSF troops opened fire from the Soytalmari camp, leaving Hasem injured with bullet on his head.

Rescued by other cattle traders, he was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on that night, said Mamun-Or Rashid, officer-in-charge of Kachkata Police Station.
