9 tortoises rescued in Bandarban

Police rescued nine tortoises from being poached at Alikadom Murong Complex of Bandarban on yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of forest department under Lama Division with Alikadom police conducted a drive and rescued these reptiles yesterday noon, reports our Bandarban correspondent.

Police detained one Shahriar Caesar Rahman, co-founder and CEO of Creative Conservation Alliance, in this connection, said Kazi Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Alikadom Police Station.

The detainee could not show proper document, said Md Kamal Uddin, Divisional Forest Officer of Lama Division.

“No case was filled as we are waiting for direction from higher authorities”, he said.
