PM calls on president
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban this evening.
"Sheikh Hasina apprised the president of overall flood situation across the country and various steps taken to overcome this natural calamity with sufficient stock of food grains," President's Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS.
The premier informed the president that the local administration as well as the public representatives was given directives to take necessary steps to stand by the flood-affected people.
Advising the authorities concerned to involve the people's representatives with the process to reduce the sufferings of the flood-hit people, the president called for ensuring proper distribution of relief goods among the actual victims.
Sheikh Hasina reached Bangabhaban at 7:30pm. On her arrival, the prime minister was received by President Hamid.
Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and Attorney General Mahbubey Alam reached Bangabhaban prior to prime minister’s arrival, sources said.
Besides, Law Minister Anisul Huq entered Bangabhaban immediately after the premier.
