Ashraf for running mobile courts by executive magistrates
Minister for Public Administration Syed Ashraful Islam today expressed his support for running mobile courts by the executive magistrates.
The minister told this to reporters after emerging from a meeting with deputy commissioners at his office at the secretariat in Dhaka this afternoon.
“Of course. The government gives power to different organisations… Therefore, the government will consider this issue and will resolve it as well,” he said in reply to a query.

However, the minister did not provide any further details over running such mobile court which was declared by the High Court illegal and unconstitutional.
The HC on May 11 declared the mobile courts run by executive magistrates illegal and unconstitutional. On July 18, the Supreme Court extended its stay on the HC order, validating its operation for two more weeks.
Meanwhile during the meeting with Ashraf, deputy commissioners opined that their magistracy power to operate mobile court should continue.
The DCs met the minister after second of their three-day annual conference at the secretariat.
