7 killed as bus plunges into Feni ditch

At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a motorcycle in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni this evening.

Among the deceased, two were identified as the bus driver Hanif, 63, of Sandwip upazila in Chittagong, and a passenger of the bus Abul Kalam, 40, from Bhola, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station.

Identities of other victims could not be known immediately.

The Chandpur-bound bus of “Shahi Paribahan” from Chittagong hit the motorcycle from the opposite direction in Amirgaon area and fell into the ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, the OC told our Feni correspondent.

At least seven people died on the spot and 20 others, including three motorcyclists, sustained injuries, he said.

On information, police rushed to the sport and recovered the bodies. The injured people were taken to different local hospitals, including Sadar Hospital, he added.
