B’baria AL man arrested over factional clash
A local Awami League leader was arrested in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria last night following a factional clash that left 10 people injured.
The arrestee Bidhan Sarker, 50, is a member of the convening committee of the upazila unit AL and also the president of ward no 6 of Shahjadpur union.
He is also a UP member, reports Prothom Alo.
He was arrested from Kautali area of Brahmanbaria town last night in connection with a case filed by his rival Mahitosh Sarker following the Friday’s clash.
Mahitosh of Molaish village filed a case with Sarail Police Station accusing Bidhan and seven others yesterday.
The duo had a long standing feud over establishing supremacy in the area.
At least 10 people were hurt after a clash erupted between supporters of the two on Friday evening.
Md Kamruzzaman, inspector (investigation) confirmed the arrest and said that the accused would be produced before a local court today.
