Bhola mayhem: 400 to 500 unknown persons sued
A case was filed against 400 to 500 unknown persons in connection with the vandalism on hindu houses, temple and arson attack in a shop during the clash between police and religious zealots in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola on October 20, that left four people dead.
Sattya Prashad Das, 78, a retired school teacher who was also physically assaulted during the atrocities, filed the case with Borhanuddin Police Station last night, Officer-in-Charge of Borhanuddin Police Station Md Enamul Haque told our Jhalakathi correspondent.
A group of religious zealots, marching in processions after the Sunday clash, entered into the hindu locality and vandalised a temple, 12 houses of 11 families, including that of Sattya Prashad’s and torched a nearby shop.
OC Enamul said they were trying to identify the criminals scrutinising the CCTV footages in the area.
At least four people were killed and a hundred others injured as police tried to prevent mob in Bhola from taking revenge against a man they thought responsible for a hate conversation through Facebook’s messenger app.
