Biman to get new aircraft tomorrow
Meghdoot, a brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, is going to join the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines tomorrow.
The 162-seat Boeing was purchased from global plane-maker Boeing and is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 1pm tomorrow, Biman officials said.
A team of Biman officials are now in US to bring the aircraft, costing around $1.5 million.
Another Boeing 737-800 is expected to join the Biman fleet from by December this year, a press release said.
As per the deal inked in 2008 between Boeing and Biman, it has already delivered four brand new Boeing 777-300 ER aircrafts.
The deal also provided that Biman will acquire 10 new generation aircraft – four Boeing 777-300ERs, two Boeing 737-800, and four Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The four 787 Dreamliner aircraft are scheduled to be delivered by 2019-2020.
With the joining of Meghdoot, the number of aircraft of the Biman fleet now stands at 13.
Presently Biman flies to 15 destinations of Middle East, Europe and Asia.
