CU student being counselled against playing ‘Blue Whale game’

A student of Chittagong University is being counselled by law enforcers against the game “Blue Whale Challenge” for allegedly playing the game, police said.

After providing counselling to the first year student of History department, police will hand him over to the university authorities, our CU correspondent reports quoting police.

The law enforcers picked him up yesterday for allegedly playing the game, said a press release singed by Chittagong District’s Additional Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Mahmud Sohel.

According to the release, the student clicked a link sent at his Facebook Messenger by someone and then game was automatically installed at his mobile phone. He played at least four steps of the game, police said.

One of his seniors at his dormitory came to know the matter and informed police seeking their help, police said.

Later, a team of police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdullah Al Masum of Hathazari circle picked up the student, the press release stated.

He is being counseled and completely okay now, Additional SP North Mosiuddola Reza said adding that the victim told the police that he played the game mistakenly.

The police urged the guardians to become more alert and keep close eyes on their children who use laptop, mobile and computer. The game came to discussion following a “suicide of a female student” on October 5.
