Bogra student rape: AL for action against Sramik League leader
Awami League today decided to take stern action against Bogra town Sramik League leader Tufan Sarker for reportedly raping a female student after abduction.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said this after coming out of a meeting of AL secretariat members at party president Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office.

“The incident happened in Bogra is a matter of our associate body. We can't take direct action and thus we decided to ask Sramik League leaders to take instant action against the culprits,” Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said.
The ruling party’s decision came this afternoon, hours into a local court placed Tofan, Tufan, Bogra town convenor of the labour wing of AL, and two others on a three-day remand today.
Tufan abducted the female student from her home, raped her and then asked his party cadres and a woman councillor to make sure everything was hushed up, according to a report of Bangla daily Prothom Alo published yesterday.
They, in their attempt to muffle the victim, picked up the student and her mother, tortured them for four hours and then shaved their heads, the report said.
AL MP Enamur to be show-caused
Obaidul Quader said his party will issue a show cause notice to its lawmaker of Dhaka-19 (Savar) Dr Enamur Rahman for his recent remarks over crossfire.
"We have got allegation from different quarters over the interview of our lawmaker Enamur Rahman. We have taken the issue seriously and will issue a show cause notice to him,” Quader said.
During an interview with Daily Manabzamin, Enamur on July 18 said there were many cadres and goons in his area but all had become silent.
No one dares to do anything as five people had been killed in crossfire as per his wish and 14 more were on a list he prepared, Enamur said.
