BGB man goes missing in Teesta
A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) went missing after he jumped into the Teesta river for nabbing alleged cattle smugglers in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat early Tuesday.
A five-member of diver team of fire service has been conducting a search operation after Sumon Miah, 30, BGB Lance Nayek of Dahagram BGB camp, went missing at the bordering part of the river in Abuler Char area of Dahagram around 2:00am, BGB official sources said.
Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Golam Morshed, commanding officer (CO) of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, said that they sought help from Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the search operation.
The Sector Commander of BGB in Rangpur Sector Colonel Abul Kalam Azad is on the spot and he is monitoring the rescue team to rescue the missing BGB man, he said adding that a helicopter is on the way to help the rescue team in the river.
