'Child rapist' killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’
An accused of a rape case was killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion in Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong early today.
Deceased Abul Hakim Mintu, 30, was an accused of a case filed for raping a ten-year-old girl, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Lt Commander Ashequr Rahman, deputy director of Rab-7.
A team of Rab conducted an operation at Tetua around 5:00am after receiving information about the whereabouts of Abul Hakim along with his cohorts.
“Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Abul Hakim and his gang opened fire at them prompting elite force members to fire back triggering a “gunfight”, the Rab official said.
When all of them fled the scene, Rab recovered the bullet-hit body of Abul Hakim lying from the spot, he added.
A homemade gun and five bullets were recovered from the spot.
Abul Hakim allegedly raped the 10-year-old girl on April 18. After three days, the victim’s father filed the case against him with Banshkhali Police Station on April 21.
