Minorities demand sacking of RU teachers

Rajshahi University student die,

Minority groups today demanded for termination of Rajshahi University teachers responsible for setting “communal questions” during its admission tests.

The demand has been raised at a press conference organised by a committee comprising of 17 religious and ethnic minority groups in the capital.

Rana Das Gupta, general secretary of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad, said: “The crime is tantamount to what the war criminals did in 1971.”

The committee will demonstrate across the country protesting the incident on November 4.

The admission aspirants at RU’s Fine Arts faculty on October 25 were asked to answer the multiple choice question: "What is the name of the greatest book in the world?"

The question which had four choices -- A) The Holy Quran, B) The Holy Bible, C) The Holy Injil and D) Gita. The questions left the admission seekers surprised and baffled.

The other question was "When did the Myanmar army and the Buddhists launch an armed attack on the Rohingya Muslims?" It was the 41st MCQ on the question paper.

These particular MCQ later triggered an outrage on the campus and criticisms in social media, with many blasting the university authorities for coming up with the "extremely communal" questions.
